2012 (:
2012 was the last year I’ll be a point england student. This year I am a year 8 student and in a class of miss squires room 20 . My highlights for this year are joining sports teams and trying out new things at camps .my faviourte sports I have been playing this year and through out the time in point England are netball and rugby. The best camp that I have attended was the year 8 camp and riverside. I don't think I'm going to forgot the epic fails I did trying out new things .
My goal for next year is to attend school more often and to try harder in my sports and learning and also be more like a good girl because it looks like i'm going to the same college as my sister and where my mum works.
Thanks teachers and coaches for helping me, I hope I have improved on something. (:

Seniors Sport rotation .
“Were you a leader on Monday for the Junior Sports Rotation ?” Mr Harris asked. me.
“Yes I was,” I replied.
“Perhaps you’d better go to the hall then. Mr Burt will be needing you for the Senior Sports Rotation this morning.
Sprinting to the hall from the downpour of rain, I was excited to help by being a captain for the Matatua team 1. I had to take over from Tina because she didn't come in time. All team houses got split into 4 groups so they could challenge theirselves .
Matatua team 1’s first rotation was with Mr Jacobsen. We had to sit in the music room and watch our production 2010 which was called “The Toy Shop “ We saw some of the seniors when they were small. It made me smile a really big smile seeing them on the production. They looked cute! Sadly we didn’t get to watch it to the end because we had other fun activities to do. I was sad that the rotations were such short times.
Before you knew it, it was time to go back to the hall and watch P.E.N.N in our line of groups. Watching P.E.N.N was a bit funny because Mrs Tele’a had put in a movie from when most of us were little!
It came to the time that we all had to tally the points. Most of the people I asked said they had less than 90 points. They thought I was cheating because my group had 120 so I replied to them “It’s just because my group is cool like that”. After they were all totaled up Matatua had came 1st place. To be honest we couldn't have come 1st place without Mr Jacobsen giving out random points like the 500 he gave the other Matatua team!
Well I had an AWESOME DAY. I just hope we can do it again so us students can have fun. Also it gave the teachers a chance to kick back having a look around the junior school. There were many activities to like and I had fun meeting the year 5 & 6. THANKS MR BURT FOR THINKING ABOUT IT ! :))

During the last 3 weeks room 20 has been going to the life education caravan. For those who don’t know what it is it a education caravan where you find out how to look after yourself and what’s in your body. This time for us year 7 and 8’s it was time to talk about how bad smoking and drinking is and how it affects your body.
Smoking makes you get addicted to it. It has some chemicals that are really bad for your body especially when you're already having health problems. The nicotine chemical makes you crave for more and more. Thats why I am going to tell some facts about smoking to try to persuade not to ever touch them.
Unfortunately at the ages of 14 and below there are kids who have started smoking or drinking. They think it makes themselves look cool or they want to blend in with their friends who smoke. But to me I think that it’s really not good.
So every time you inhale cigarette smoke you get more of a chance of dying at a young age from a cancer. Even if you try a little bit of smoking it stills attacks your lungs and other body parts.
For you smokers out there, you may not think about what might happens or how you will look in the future but it makes you really unfit.
One of my friend was really good at playing netball she even got picked for the reps. but unfortunately she had moved to college and hung around with some students who smoked. She decided to try it and now these days she smokes everyday. I asked her if she still played netball. “No, “ she said, “Because I'm not fit enough!”
SO if you haven't been thinking about stopping, you need to think really hard about how it affects your family and friends. Think about the cost. If you didn't need to buy those smokes you could buy useul things with the money you save. Money that you could buy something like food ,clothes and other things. DON’T SMOKE!!

If you ever start smoking sometime in your life you may get addicted to it. A cigarette may be small but contains about 4,000 chemicals, many of which are poisonous. Some of the worst ones are: Nicotine ,Arsenic, Methane, Ammonia, Cadmium, Carbon Monoxide, Formaldehyde, Butane, Hydrogen Cyanide. They are the same chemicals you find in odd places: deadly poison rat poison, component of rocket fuel, floor cleaner, things used in batteries, parts of car exhaust, something used to preserve body tissue, lighter fluid, and the poison used in gas chambers.

The weightlifter
Arms trembling and muscle ripping you would see how prepared he was to his final lift”Yes there he was mind focussed for the gold. Representing His country Precious Mackenzie was hungry for gold.
He was trying to balance the weight of the bar he was preparing mentally .

Brown brother
Standing on the stage was a Mt Roskill grammar prefect, Joshua Iosefo preparing to say his talk. It came to the time where he had begin his speech but instead he had written up a poem called “Brown Brother”.While he was saying it some people were inspired. One of his friends put up his poem on Youtube where we were lucky that it came to the attention of Campbell Live.
The title of his poem was "Brown Brother".He started his poem off with describing about his colour skin then he got into his main message it was to not listen to stereotypes, stereotypes is about a group of people whereby we attribute a set of characteristics to the group. In part of the poem it relates to our Point England School korero (it our way to succeed ) which are : Champions Never Give Up, Strive to Succeed and most of all Herenga ki te Whetu which means Reach for the Stars .He also mentioned that some positive things about stereotype like we all love P.E,music, dance and drama.
When I watched it I thought I knew the meaning will be that we should not limit ourselves and try our best, also to not be afraid to change and that you don't need to be like everybody else because if you do you won’t have a chance to shine. I felt inspired watching him saying that poem.

Netball Mania!
"Come and get your uniform ready and meet us at the court at 6" our coach Roslyn said.
Every Tuesday night our year 6 to 8 netball girls go down to the court to play a game of netball but for the year 4 and 5's they play every Thursday night.
This week our year 8 team 1, had a late game which gave us a chance to play against Baradene. In the end, the score ended up being 15-14 but the main thing was, we had fun!
On the first quarter of the game my position was GD (goal defence), I didn't like who I was defending because she was taller then me so my goal was to try not to step and to get the ball off the other team. As soon as the game started we all had to run to our started position.
I really didn't feel like playing in front of the supporters because there was a lot of them but I had to play I tried really hard in the first half but I couldn't keep up with my partner because she was way fitter then me.
So on the 2nd quarter I had to sub out to watch what my partner was trying to do. By then we were starting to catch up to them cause they were winning and we were doing some good defend.
There were 4 quarters and this was the 3rd quarter that I hop back to the game. This time I wasn't GD I had to be a GA(goal attack). I wasn't proud of myself on the court because I knew I could play better but I choose not too.
Well I reckon that the last quarter was hard because that when us teams had gone best I had to go on goal shoot because Tina had to go off we had quite a good game trying our best but we had lost by 1 point. Hope to win on our next game.

Picasso and henry's artwork
Henri Matisse was born on december 31, 1869 in Northern france but had sadly he died on november 3th 1954. Picasso was born on October 25,1881 in Spain he was a first child of an art father and a mother called maria lopez and he died April 8th 1973.
Henry and Picasso shared the same subject but conveyed different messages. Henri's one was called 'Women with the Hat' and Picasso's painting was called 'Weeping women'. In this piece of writing I am going to point out the differences and similarities. In their painting Picasso and Henri is showing that it is about sadness, war and anguish however, Henri’s painting shows that his wife has a mixture of feelings.
Picasso's colour is mainly with reds/yellows ,Henris has a great number of colours he also had shadings.
matisse really does not have much lines , he only has the outline black and inside of him he has diffrent kind of colour he also has shades to each of them.
So i think that by Matisse and Picasso painting are a bit similar to each other

At the pools
Dashing up the stairs to get in line, I was laughing and scrambling as fast as I could. “ Ha ha we’re here,” I said to Athena.
As we were waiting in line more people came up and pushed in. So Athena and I pushed in front of them. The year 7 boys laughed.
“Yeah! “ I said while eagerly waiting for the green light to go on. A flash of green, and with careful aim I slid into the dark tunnel to go down. I was twisting and turning with fear as I was dying to get out. At last I saw a bright light coming towards me. I was full of excitement because I was finally out of the tunnel.

Our school picnic
“YES IT NOT RAINING” I shouted out . On a fine morning our school had an event at the Point England reserve. We had a school picnic. Every year our school has a picnic down at the reserve. When we go to picnics , we always go and meet up at the hall for some important news for when we get there. while we were in the hall , Mr Burt mentioned about boundry’s and our hats , but the most important rule was to have FUN!
As we walked down to the reserve , us Seniors had to be in front of the whole school. It will go on to the little kids. When we were walking we saw heaps of teachers and student with cameras taking photo and filming us. “Finally” I heard some people saying it behind me . Mr Burt had another talk then let us go.
“HMMM?” What should I play first? I asked myself with a sigh. I looked over to the volley ball game and that what I wanted to join in & play. Just then ,I saw it was full already ,so I changed my mind. I suggested to myself that I will wait for the pack of players to go down. At that same moment ,I spotted Sylvia and Mino playing their own volley game. I went up and watched them hit some balls. It took a while for the volley to be free. There I go looking over to the volley ball game , there was still people there but not as many as before. I felt like a bully spiking ,hitting & smacking the balls to the younger ones ,but my team was winning!
After a while I got ready tired & felt exhausted. I then walked to a big part of shade ,but then i had seen miss Va’afussanaga picking up rubbish everywhere ,so I had offered to help her. While me and her were picking up rubbish we were talking about what I had applied for. I love to help miss Va’afusuaga because she is one of the best teacher ‘s in the world. After the beach looked all clean we went to wash our hands and made sure that the little kids were in the boundry that Mr Burt had set. Walking to the shade ,I collapsed onto the ground with a smile on my face.
I had heaps of fun at our school event helping and playing I also was singing and dancing a bit well actually. everyone was happy and we all had fun . Saying to myself when we got to school “I had fun at the picnic but it wasn't the best I've been too “ there was a funny thing that i Just notice about it was my last year taking part of a fun event.

A girl not thinking probably before posting online
In the middle of the day a girl who had posted a liltle photo of her into facebook online, didnt she didn't really think about what was going to happen next, But the only thing she thought about was that it was private photo.
On that night she had posted that photo some other people that are her friends friend hop online and saw that picture of her.
As on the next day she had seen that everyone had seen the picture, She went and hop online with a grin on her face and tryed to removed it but as she tryed it will still appear on internet. So as for now that photo will never be of internet

Think before you post.
Unfortunately these days teenagers often put things online that are not very kind things to say to other people. So I In encourage you to think before you post things on online.
If you ever think posting something online is private, you will never know what other people will do to it - like if one of your friends copies it, then pastes it in their status, it wouldn't be private anymore .So if you post remember it will never be completely private.
Whatever you do online, when you are a teenage person, you really don’t think about what's going to happen in the future. In life, teenagers grow up and look for jobs. When they have applied for a job the manger goes on Internet and googles up your name. Whatever you posted he could see and maybe he wouldn't let you take the job because of mean stuff you have been doing online.
Too often these days people posted things online that they do not want to say in person. But if you get this warning you will be safe online and will have a happy future. You need to leave a positive footprint.
So please think very hard before you post!!!..

Poem about me!

Cold at the beach
The wind had come past like a big tornado. I ran quickly to my things and squeezed my self into a blanket. I couldn't stop shivering. There I go looking up into the sky. The sun went away as the gray clouds appeared. Everyone who had a swim was still wet, huddling under their blankets and towels. Everyone was full of disappointment about the weather .
